Shake Up Your Remote Work Routine
A Change of Scenery Can Help Boost Creativity and Productivity

đȘ Reflect
When was the last time you shook up your remote working routine?
đĄ Concept
One of the benefits of remote work is being able to control your environmentâmany people who opt to take advantage of location flexibility create an ideal home working space. Others have a preferred coworking spot or coffee shop where they can always find a free table next to an outlet.
There are obvious benefits to having a predictable, controllable environment with minimal distractions where you know you can be productive. But if you find yourself in a rut, or youâre struggling to find motivation, try changing up your remote work routine.
One simple way to do that is to work from a different location. Not only can a change of scenery spark creativity, research suggests that having variety in your daily life can make you happier.
If you do decide to change your location, make sure you adequately plan for the time it will take you to get there and set up, and make a list of things you need to bring with you. If youâve been primarily working from home, it can take some adjusting to have to commute somewhere to work!
đŹ Take Action
Research. Find spots in your area where you can comfortably work for an extended period of time. Use a resource like Workfrom or Radious to find places to work in your area.
Plan ahead. Pack everything youâll need to work outside your home office. Be sure to include good headphones and all the necessary chargers to make sure your devices wonât die while youâre out.
Prioritize. Donât waste time at your new location by working on tasks you easily complete wherever you are. Instead, use the time to focus on tasks that youâve been avoiding or projects that could really benefit from an extra shot of creativity and energy.
Be conscientious. Only join video meetings from a public spot if 1) you can do so without being disruptive to the other people in your area, and 2) you can do so without creating distractions for other virtual meeting attendees.
